Le Labo Introduces CYPRÈS 21 Indigo

Le Labo introduces CYPRÈS 21 Indigo, a special edition candle shaped by Japan’s centuries-old tradition of indigo dyeing. 

Inspired by aizome, the Japanese practice of dyeing fabric with fermented natural indigo, or ai, Le Labo partnered with a family-run workshop in Japan, now in its fifth generation. Cotton is dyed by hand in indigo baths prepared in decades-old wooden casks, producing layered hues that shift subtly with each immersion, guided by experience rather than precision.

For this special edition candle, CYPRÈS 21 is housed in a deep blue glass vessel and presented in a kraft box adorned with a custom indigo-gradient label that pays homage to the spirit and precision of this exceptional craft. No two gradients are exactly alike, a quiet nod to the organic nature of the dyeing process.

At its heart, CYPRÈS 21 is an atmospheric, wood-forward scent. Bright, resinous cypress opens cool and clean, followed by juniper, clove and star anise. Incense and patchouli bring warmth and depth, settling into a calm, enveloping presence reminiscent of a secluded woodland retreat.
