Marimekko Fall/Winter 2025 — Everyday Design with Nordic Poise

Fashion
MARIMEKKO, #B1-27/28

Finnish design house Marimekko ushers in the Fall/Winter 2025 season with a collection that celebrates the art of everyday living. Defined by sculptural silhouettes, tactile textures and enduring prints, the new collection channels the quiet strength and optimism of Nordic design, where fashion meets functionality and simplicity becomes a statement of its own.

Anchored by the overarching theme, “The Anatomy of a Flower”, Marimekko Fall/Winter’25 explores the dialogue between light and dark, with colour providing an interjection of joy. The contrast captures the essence of Nordic life, where long winters give way to bursts of brightness, both in spirit and design.

The collection celebrates the brand’s signature artistry through a quartet of standout prints that balance heritage with fresh perspective. Tumma by Maija Isola evokes the mystery of dark botanicals painted with expressive, almost painterly strokes. Torstai by Paavo Halonen reveals an exuberant garden of roses and peonies, while Piirto Unikko by Maija Isola offers a graphic reinterpretation of the iconic Unikko poppy through delicate, airy lines. Basso, also by Isola, stands out for its striking simplicity with diagonal stripes.

Expect effortless day-to-night pieces including tailored coats, textured knits and crisp cotton dresses, all crafted with sustainability in mind. More than 98% of the ready-to-wear collection is made from organic, recycled or otherwise innovative materials.

Step Into a Dream: Laila Gohar for Marimekko

Laila Gohar for Marimekko Installation

Adding to the season’s creative spirit, Marimekko introduces a special collaboration with New York–based artist Laila Gohar. Known for her imaginative approach to food and design, Gohar lends her whimsical touch to a bedroom-themed capsule collection that celebrates life’s quiet, everyday rituals. Gohar describes the collaboration as an extension of her personal memories, recalling how her mother dressed her and her sister in Marimekko stripes as children. That sense of familiarity runs through the capsule — a feeling of being at home, wrapped in colour and comfort. Each piece embodies a guiding thought she shared during Milan Design Week: “If it’s ironed, you can wear it out.” Through this lens, the capsule becomes more than a bedtime story. It celebrates a slower rhythm of living, where the boundary between waking and dreaming, dressing and resting, feels beautifully fluid.

Exclusively available in Singapore at Marimekko, Takashimaya Shopping Centre, this capsule collection reinterprets Marimekko’s joyful prints through intimate, everyday essentials such as duvet covers, pyjamas, diaries and sleep masks, all enlivened by Maija Isola’s iconic stripes. These everyday objects are rendered with wit and warmth, designed for the modern dreamer who finds poetry in simplicity.

Gohar calls the collaboration a reflection of childhood memories, when her mother dressed her and her sister in Marimekko stripes. The capsule carries that same warmth and ease, guided by her playful mantra: “If it’s ironed, you can wear it out.” Through this lens, the capsule becomes more than a bedtime story. It celebrates a slower rhythm of living, where the boundary between waking and dreaming, dressing and resting, feels beautifully fluid.

Together, the Fall/Winter 2025 collection and the Laila Gohar capsule express Marimekko’s enduring philosophy that design should live beyond the runway, woven naturally into the rhythm of daily life.
