From Tiong Bahru to Takashimaya: a Michelin Bib Gourmand favourite arrives with its signature chicken rice

Tiong Bahru Hainanese Chicken Rice, a familiar name in Singapore’s hawker heritage, has opened its first Orchard Road restaurant at Takashimaya Shopping Centre. Known for its tender poached chicken, rice and signature sauces, the brand brings almost four decades of culinary experience to its new home.

A heritage name in a new setting

Located at Basement 2, the 76-seat restaurant offers a comfortable space for fans and first-time diners. The menu focuses on three well-loved styles: Hainanese Chicken Rice, Roasted Chicken Rice and a two-style Classic Hainanese Combo, each served with rice, sauces and soup.

At TBC, the chicken may take centre stage, but the rice plays an important role too. The founders spent months developing two new rice variants exclusive to the Orchard outlet. Diners can choose fragrant basmati rice or a premium Niigata Koshihikari rice, a grain more commonly used in Japanese cuisine. The Koshihikari grain is also featured in the Oven-baked Whole Chicken with Japanese Rice, a sharing dish suited for group dining.

The restaurant also presents an expanded selection of dishes designed to complement its signature chicken rice. Highlights include the Hainan Curry Fish Pot, Chilli Soft Shell Crab with Mantou, Homemade Ngoh Hiang with Shrimp, Assam Batang Fish and Hainan Style Spicy Prawns with Cucumber. Familiar sides such as braised eggs, braised peanuts, salted egg pumpkin and offal options round out the offering.

Opening Special

To celebrate its opening, the first 50 customers on Sat 29 Nov and Sun 30 Nov 2025 who spend at least S$10 will receive a complimentary branded flask. Guests who return with the flask can redeem a takeaway refill of chicken soup with a minimum spend of S$10 per visit until Wed 31 Dec 2025.
